The mission of the Catholic parish of St. Joseph Hessen Cassel, the people of Jesus, is to give witness to Him alive in our midst, by our ministries of Sacramental worship, teaching, and serving the needy. By this witness, we give proof of Christ to the world.

Would you like to know the difference between the Prayer Chain and the Prayer List?

The Prayer Chain refers to the immediate prayer ministry already in place in the parish. If you or your loved one are in need of immediate prayers, you may call the church office at 639-3748 or contact Tammy Gladding at 639-6008 to be placed on the chain.

The Prayer List is a monthly ministry. The first Sunday bulletin of each month will have an insert with a list of names requesting prayers. You must call the church office to be placed on the bulletin’s list. To change or update this list, call the church office.

Your intentions may be included on both. These both offer a wonderful way for our parish family to pray for one another.

The Vocation Chalice was implemented at St. Joseph to pray for an increase for vocations to religious life. Anyone who signs up to take the Chalice home, commits to praying for vocations each day for one week.  There are prayer cards that may be used inside the chalice case. This is a great practice to implement during family prayer time. The chalice needs to be returned to church prior the the Vigil Mass on Saturday at 5 p.m. The case is kept on the Marian Alter.

In preparation for your child’s baptism, Fr. Bill will have instructional meetings once a month. This prep meeting is for those parents who have not attended Baptism preparation within the last 3-4 years or who have never attended the instructional meeting. You only need to attend one session and you do not have to wait until your baby is born. This will give you the opportunity to have all of your questions answered, inform you of any requirements, as well as refresh your understanding of the sacrament. The Baptismal Preparation meetings are generally held on the third or fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Community Room. Please call the parish office at 639-3748 if you plan on attending.

First Saturdays: 8 am

Weekend Mass times: Saturday 5 pm and Sunday 7:30, 9:00, and 10:30 am

Confessions: Saturdays 3:30-4:30 pm

Daytime Adoration: every Friday after 8 am Mass until 10 am

Evening Adoration: Tuesday’s 5 pm-meeting time (usually at 6:30pm)

During these difficult times when many are being laid off or working less hours, please remember that the food bank is still up and running. The only difference is that there is drive-up service at the back of the parish building, rather than coming through the building. Times are Thursdays from 9-10 AM and Saturdays from 9-10 AM. We are closed on holidays and weekends that fall near a holiday.
