Welcome to Music Class!

Music is a form of expression for all people.

Music’s connection to brain development has been well documented. At Saint
Joseph Hessen Cassel, music is used in every classroom, Preschool through Grade 8.
Students receive weekly instruction in movement, note theory, singing,
instruments (rhythm instruments, bells, recorders, band), and cultural learning.

Students in Grades 5 through 8 may choose to participate in band or choir.
The wonderful talents of our students are shared through a Christmas Pageant/Program
and the Spring Program/Musical. We have choir and band students who participate
each year in ISSMA (Indiana State School Music Association) competitions.
Students in Grades 5 through 8 may also gain further knowledge of Church
music through participation in choir singing at Mass, and
in Pueri Cantores, a national organization which promotes student learning of
Sacred Church music.
