At St. Joseph Hessen Cassel School we want Kindergarten to be a wonderful experience for your child since in some cases it is your child’s first time in a structured setting. We put emphasis on developing the whole child academically and spiritually so he/she is prepared for the future, as our vision statement says, “Learning for Life and Living the Faith”.

Emphasis will also be placed on motor, perceptual, social, and emotional development of each child through computer, art, P.E., health, music, free play, and show and tell. We are involved in two musical programs during the school year as well as Junior Achievement, theater, and other in-school programs and a variety of field trips. We have groups such as Ronald McDonald come in to present uplifting programs to the students, Fort Wayne Fire Dept. on Fire Safety and Prevention, Fort Wayne Police Dept. on Stranger Awareness, and Bus Safety. Some field trips we take are to Poe Fire Station, Adam Heritage Nursing Home (this is a community service project), a farm, bowling alley and park for a nature walk.

We use Mimio Teach technology and Smart Exchange as learning tools. We will also be accessing programs such as Accelerated Reader,  and other online programs to help those who need a little extra help or for those who need to be challenged a little more.
