Activities to Implement the Intervention
- Students will be given a minimum of 15 minutes planned, sustained silent reading time each week in homeroom.
- Students will apply comprehension knowledge through bi-weekly guided reading lessons at all grade levels in core curricular areas.
- Students will be given frequent opportunities to practice fluency in reading in core curricular areas, including use of Reader’s Theater and Accelerated Reader.
- Students will be able to demonstrate comprehension of materials read through various written activities (book reports, essay questions, oral tests, etc.).
- Students will be able to transfer newly acquired skills beyond the classroom setting (field trips, life skills, etc.)

- Students will be able to identify and apply the problem solving components of literary elements at individual skill levels.
- Students will be able to engage in activities using higher level thinking skills through research.
- Students will be able to identify problems in writing conventions.
- Students will be able to identify and correctly use parts of speech in a sentence.

- Students will be able to solve complex mathematical problems using 4-step problem solving strategy.
- Students will be able to explore solutions to problems using the scientific method process.
- Students will become critical thinkers who can solve problems, work together, and make decisions using relevant skills in each of their grade level social studies standards.
