Letter from Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades

The U.S. bishops are joining together in a commitment of prayer and reparation leading up to the Bishops’ general assembly, where they will be making critical decisions in response to the clergy sexual abuse crisis.  Read Bishop Rhoades’ letter, in which he requests parishioners to join him in this special period of prayer and sacrifice.



3rd Annual SJHC Craft Bazaar

Join us for the 3rd Annual SJHC Craft Bazaar on Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 9 am to 1 pm.  We will have over 70 vendors with a wide variety of crafting items, including baby items, books, centerpieces, Christmas decor, crochet items, girls’ boutique items, jewelry, paintings, quilts, scarves, wood signs, wreaths and MUCH more!  We will have food from Nine Mile Restaurant and a 50/50 raffle.  All proceeds go to support the 8th grade class trip.  Visit the Saint Joseph Hessen Cassel Craft Bazaar Facebook page to find out more.



Annual Bishop’s Appeal

Please take time to make your Annual Appeal donation.  No gift is too small (or too big). Please give from the heart. We hope for 100% participation for our parish this year.



Parish Outdoor Clean-Up

Saturday April 14 at 8AM is the day for all who are able to come and help spruce up the parish grounds and pull weeds around the church landscape, weather permitting. Please bring shovels, rakes, and work gloves. Anyone with small garden tractors with trailers are needed as well. Donuts will be provided in the morning and hot dogs in the afternoon. Food Bank Help Is Needed

The SJHC Parish Food Bank is in need of volunteers on Thursday and Saturday mornings during the hours of operation. Food Bank funds are also low at this time, as the need is great. You may make monetary donations by mailing to the church office or placing in the collection at weekend Masses. If you would to purchase items, donations can be dropped off at any time the church office is open or placed in the Food Bank basket in the Gathering Space.  To volunteer or for more information regarding the Food Bank, contact Lanny and Mary Ellen Ross. Our Knights of Columbus council is now on Facebook! We hope that all parishioners who might use Facebook would “Like” our page at https://www.facebook.com/stjoehckofc12379. By doing so, you can follow the many wonderful service events that our council does throughout the parish and community. Financial Statement for Fiscal Year 2015-2016

Attached is a letter from Father Bill, along with an abridged financial statement for fiscal year 2015-2016. The financial year ends on June 30th each year. If you have any questions, please contact the parish office, any member of the parish finance council, or Father Bill.



Donations Needed for October Beattyville Trip

We are planning our next Beattyville trip for the end of October (it was originally scheduled October 1 & 2) and welcome your donations.

This will be our “Christmas trip”.  Items needed include the following: schools supplies, new underwear and socks, warm coats, boots, gloves, blankets, space heaters, and new or gently used toys and clothes that parents can give their kids for Christmas.

175th Anniversary Celebration of Church’s Founding

In conjunction with the parish’s annual Fall Festival, we plan to celebrate our Church’s 175th anniversary with special activities.  Read the Fort Wayne News-Sentinel article to find out more the Church’s events and the special events planned for the September 24, 2016, festival.



2016 Fall Festival

Join our parish community on Saturday, September 24, 2016, for the annual St. Joe Hessen Cassel Fall Festival and 175th Jubilee. The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with a softball tournament and the opening of our food tent. The fun continues with our kids’ carnival and CYO volleyball tournament from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The cornhole tournament, as well as bingo, start at 1:00 p.m. Other festivities include a log saw tournament, live auction, car cruise and inflatables for the kids.

As part of the fall festival, we are also celebrating our parish’s 175th jubilee. Join us for an outdoor Mass at 4 p.m. in the church yard (weather permitting).
