2015 Parish Spiritual Growth Survey

The Parish Pastoral Council has prepared its “2015 Survey to Identify Opportunities for Spiritual Growth”. A PDF copy of the survey is attached below. Please take a few minutes to complete it and return it to church at your earliest convenience. Thank you!

33 Days to Morning Glory Book

Join us in reading the “33 Days to Morning Glory” book of consecration to Jesus through Mary. This daily reading will help you grow and invite Mary into your life. The start day is July 13 and runs through Aug. 15 with the Bishop having Mass at the Cathedral at 6pm for our final Consecration Blessing.

You can pick up your copy of the book in the gathering area. Donations are welcomed. Also, there is a Kindle or Nook version of the book that can be downloaded for $10.

33 Days to Morning Glory

Be A Banner Business!

We will be putting up 4×5 foot color banners in the gym to show off the businesses that support our school and gym.  If you business would like to support this effort and be displayed in our gym the entire year, please contact the school office (639-3580) for details. Prices range from $100 to $500.

Church Bells & Trees

Work will start this spring to repair the church bells and to plant the memorial trees.  If you would like to make a donation to either of these causes, you may drop your donation in the collection basket, in an envelope marked either “church bells” or “trees”. You may also stop by the church office or call Michelle at 639-3748.

Sunday Children's Ministry

The Pastoral Council has approved the suggestion that we once again have a nursery and a pre-First Communion Sunday children’s Liturgy of the Word:  baby sitting with a purpose.   (One of the parents suggested that her prayers and worship would be better if the whole of Mass time was taken up with child care.)   There are many ways to approach this, but regardless of the approach what will be needed is helpers.  So, the first thing that we need to know, would you use such a program for children?  Secondly would you help? (Your help would not be used every Sunday, but it would be needed on a regular basis.)  Let us know!  Use a card, an email, telephone message, or any means of communication.  Contact the parish office or Mrs. Lori Krauss at 639-3501 or 437-3833 or loriekrauss [at] hotmail.com.

Prayers and help requested

Update:
As you may know, Erica Lomont, one of our parishioners and mother of two of our St. Joseph students, gave birth to healthy twin girls Nora and Lola on March 22 and then suffered a massive stroke on Good Friday (only one week later). After a two hour emergency brain surgery, two weeks of intensive care, a few days in the Neuro recovery unit, and time in a Long Term Acute Care Hospital and in-patient rehab facility, Erica is now at home. Many have asked, “How can I help?”
At this time, cash donations and gift cards may be sent to the church office.  The address is 11337 Old Decatur Road South Fort Wayne, Indiana 46816 for those of you who would like to mail a donation.  Please mark all donations as “Lomont Benefit c/o St. Joseph Church”. Many thanks goes out to our parish & school families, and beyond, for responding to the plea for prayers, meals, and needed baby items for the Pete & Erica Lomont Family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

SJHC Volunteers Hard At Work!

Have you noticed any changes lately while walking around the St. Joe grounds? Several volunteers, including many SJHC students, gave a couple hours of their time to lay new mulch down around the playground equipment. Two trees were also removed by the Frecker family. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time on these projects!

Below are pictures of our parish members hard at work…
